Olin Glenne has been a resident of the Wood River Valley since 1997, and after working for Sturtevants for 15 years, he became the owner in January, 2013 along with his business partner Ben Jacobson.
Olin is originally from Park City, Utah, where his love and dedication to the sport of skiing began. After becoming a three time Junior Olympic champion in skiing, Olin went to Oregon State University on a soccer scholarship where he studied Business and Construction Engineering Management. After a successful college soccer career, Olin continued to find success in skiing as he went on to have four top 10 finishes on the Big Mountain World Tour.
Now Olin, his wife Massey, and their daughter Tindsley enjoy all the great things that the Ketchum area has to offer. He still dominates the slopes, winning the locals favorite ski race–the Lane Parrish Memorial Combined Trophy–four times. Skiing is but one of Olin’s many interests, “skiing, cycling and exploring the outdoors are my favorite things to do and why Sturtevants and SVMG is such a good fit for me. In particular, I really enjoy the adventurous outings such as ski mountaineering in the Sawtooths or Lost River Range, linking together unique mountain bike loops in the Pioneer and Smoky Mountains, or seeking out less travelled pieces of water in search of fish that have never been hooked.”
“Outside the scope of Sturtevants and SVMG, I love travel, good music, golf, and soccer.” Olin’s extensive knowledge of the Wood River Valley and the surrounding areas and mountain ranges, make him a great guide for any excursion. He also has experience guiding backcountry skiing for Sun Valley Heli Skiing. His dedication to his interests and passions is superseded only by his dedication to his customers and employees.
“I look forward to providing our customers and guests with exceptional service and merchandise that will elevate the experience and performance of their outdoor adventures for many years to come!”
Since 2008, Kyle has called Ketchum home and this avid outdoorsman takes full advantage of the resources this area has to offer. Mountain biking, skiing, and hiking keep Kyle active, and on mellow days he can be found fishing for wild Rainbows on the Big Wood River, golfing or simply tasting beer at one of the area’s breweries. At home, Kyle and his wife Gabrielle keep busy raising their two kids and being able to share this paradise with his family is a feat he lists as his greatest accomplishment to date.
As our Inventory Manager, Kyle is responsible for receiving all of the amazing gear that hits the shelves at Sturtevants. Organizing these shipments, tagging them for sale and placing them on the shop floor keeps Kyle busy full time, but he also loves to share his passion for the area as one of our Sun Valley Mountain Guides. Kyle’s knowledge of Sun Valley and the products we sell are great assets to Sturtevants and we are excited to have him on our team.
Raised in southeastern Idaho on her family’s fifth generation wheat farm, Mary developed a passion for business and the outdoors during her childhood. She attended Preston High School and upon graduating in 2010 she moved to Pocatello to further her education at Idaho State University. Pocatello is where Mary discovered her love for mountain biking and skiing as she followed her then boyfriend, now husband Ryland Mauck-Duff, around the singletrack trails of City Creek and the backcountry of Pebble Creek ski area. Throughout college, Mary worked in retail banking where she gained an extensive knowledge of customer service and sales. Upon graduating from college in 2016 Mary and Ryland made the move to the Wood River Valley where they spent their first year exploring the expansive backcountry terrain in the surrounding mountain ranges.
Mary enjoys embarking on as much adventure as she can, exploring the vast Idaho mountain ranges on bike, foot, and ski. Mary has been with Sturtevants since November 2016 where she enjoys helping outfit the residents and visitors of the Wood River Valley in some of her favorite gear. She will also guide for Sun Valley Mountain Guides this summer. We are excited at the chance of harnessing Mary’s energy and passion and directing it towards the people that walk through our doors.
Jim Santa isn’t your typical outdoorsman. He takes advantage of every recreational activity the valley has to offer, never doing so halfheartedly. This is but one reason why he is a great choice to guide and instruct anywhere in the valley, be it hiking, biking, or cross country skiing.
Jim is originally from Duluth, Minnesota where he attended college and “majored in steelhead fishing, and minored in accounting.” It is clear today which one took precedent. Jim first came to the Wood River Valley in 1986 and worked at Sturtevants for two seasons, then ventured off to pursue a career in the ski industry where his permanent residence became a ski demo van and a Motel 6 (they leave the light on). Having had his fair share of cheap motel rooms and McDonald’s drive through, Jim returned to Sturtevants in 1996, and has remained here ever since.
Jim is a big part of our team at Sturtevants with his main responsibilities being; footwear buyer, shoe and ski boot fitter, and mountain bike guide. During the winter he enjoys the long runs on Baldy just as much as the next local, and occasionally does a bit of Nordic ski instruction for the BCRD when he has time.
Jim is your ideal guide for any activity and any season, and we are proud to call him part of the Sturtevants and SVMG team. “I love to share the incredible bounty of experiences and opportunities for adventure offered in and around the Wood River Valley, it is the reason I choose to call this home!”
