Ski Equipment and Footwear Buyer, Guide
Jim Santa isn’t your typical outdoorsmen. He takes advantage of every recreational activity the valley has to offer on a daily basis, never doing so halfheartedly. This is but one reason he is a great choice to guide and instruct anywhere in valley be it fishing, hiking, biking, or cross country skiing.
Jim is originally from Duluth, Minnesota where he attended college and “majored in steelhead fishing, and minored in accounting;” it is clear today which one took precedent. Jim first came to the Wood River Valley in 1986 and worked at Sturtevants for two seasons, then ventured off to pursue a career in the ski industry where his permanent residence became a ski demo van and a motel 6 (they leave the light on). Having had his fair share of cheap motel rooms and McDonald’s drive through, Jim returned to Sturtevants in 1996, and has remained here ever since.
Jim is a big part of our team at Sturtevants with his main responsibilities being; guide services coordinator, footwear buyer, shoe and ski boot fitter, and mountain bike and fly fishing guide. During the winter he enjoys the long runs on baldy just as much as the next local, and occasionally does a bit of Nordic ski instruction for the BCRD when he has time.
Jim is your ideal guide for any activity and any season, and we are proud to call him part of the Sturtevants and SVMG team. “I love to share the incredible bounty of experiences and opportunities for adventure offered in and around the Wood River Valley, it is the reason I choose to call this home!”
