After a short dry spell, it seems we are back in the flow of precipitation. As a result, Baldy has received about 18″ in the past five days with more snow (and sunshine mixed in) expected over the next 7-10 days.

On Baldy, the post-holiday effects of significant skier days were evident but also positive as the entire ski area was properly skied in. This allows snow to hold in places longer and create a better base when more snow arrives. Now, as that new snow arrives, the ski area is offering huge amounts of terrain, excellent snow quality, and no crowds! Skiing Sun Valley in conditions like this is a treat and is truly a world class skiing experience!

The snowpack in the Wood River and Sawtooth Valley’s are running about 150% of average and has created a winter wonderland for Backcountry skiers, Nordic skiers, Snowshoers, Fat Bikers, and is a great omen for our upcoming summer! ‘Up North’ has received significantly more snow over the past week and as a result, the Backcountry and Nordic skiers are both very happy. Avalanche safety frequently requires an hour by hour, slope by slope assessment but many beautiful and unique lines are being skied from Bellevue to Stanley. And, with average winter weather, we should have an awesome Nordic Week and Boulder Mountain Tour this year.

So, if you are not here, get here. If you are here, make sure you are taking advantage of these great conditions!
