Every year like clockwork the Brown Drakes come and go on Silver Creek. PMDs, beetles, and damsel nymphs are the name of the game now. With the big wood running at 1000 CFS thru Hailey it makes fishing very difficult. We really like to see the Big Wood drop below 800 CFS for more manageable fishing. If we steer clear of heavy rain showers we should start to see the Big Wood and its tributaries drop and clear. When it does – start out with streamers and heavily weighted stone fly nymphs and buggers. The first major hatch will be green drakes. With everything being early this season we could expect this to happen in late June. it’s always a little tough this time of year but you may find some fun fishing in some of the local beaver ponds. Please be careful around these fast running rivers and keep your pets close by. Also keep in mind Mackay, Magic and the Little Wood Reservoir for some float tube adventures. Father’s Day is just around the corner so start thinking of that fisherman in your life. Sturtevants, 340 North main Ketchum where our advice is always free!!
